Special Commemorative Coin issued by the Central Bank of Armenia dedicated to tyhe 200th anniversary of Armenian College in Kolkata

According to the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, the apex bank has issued a special commemorative coin dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy (ACPA) in Kolkata, India.

Established in 1821, the Armenian College in Kolkata serves as one of the oldest educational institutions in the Armenian Diaspora and continues to provide free education to young Armenian boys and girls from India, Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Myanmar, etc. Throughout its 200-year old history, it has educated thousands of Armenians and serves as a shining testament to the glorious history of the Armenian Community in India and the strong bond shared by India and Armenia

As the institution marks the 200th anniversary of its establishment, this silver coin comes as an excellent tribute to the founders of ACPA and all the managers, teachers, staff and most importantly students that have walked in and out of her doors.

Taking this opportunity, Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO congratulates all the former pupils as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff of Armenian College and Philanthropic Academy on the institution's glorious 200th anniversary. May the school continue to run for many centuries to come and may it forever serve as a standing testament of the centuries-old friendship shared by our two ancient cultures.
