Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO's Programs Coordinator Mr Karen Mkrtchyan attends discussion dedica
On the 25th of October, 2019 Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO's Programs Coordinator Mr Karen Mkrtchyan attended a discussion dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi organised by the Political Studies Group of the Mkhitar Sebastaci School.
The Chief Guest of the event was His Excellency Sri K.D. Dewal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Armenia who was received at the entrance by Mrs Martha, head of the senior school along with some of the pupils.
There were to presentations prepared by the young enthusiastic pupils on the life of The Mahatma, covering important events right from his birth until his death and the important role played by him in the establishment of the largest democracy in the world.
His Excellency kindly shared a few words regarding Mahatma Gandhi and his teachings with the pupils, as well as touched upon the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in modern times, particularly in Armenia.
During the question-answer session the pupils got the opportunity to ask various questions to His Excellency, which were gladly answered by him. His Excellency also presented the school with the book "The Story of My Experiment With Truth".
After the discussions, the pupils proudly showed off their India Corner to His Excellency which mainly contained books presented to the school by the Indian Embassy under the "Bharat Ek Parichay-Sharing Knowledge with the World" scheme of the Government of India during the tenure of the former Ambassador His Excellency Sri Yogeshwar Sangwan.
His Excellency was also given a tour of the school, where he got to know about the various facilities and programs of the educomplex.
Prospects of future collaborations were also discussed with the school authorities.
Indo-Armenian Friendship NGO had collaborated with Mkhitar Sebastaci Educomplex on a number of projects and had organised a discussion and essay writing competition on the theme, Be the Change that You wish to see in the world", wherein the participants and winners were given prices and certificates by His Excellency Yogeshwar Sangwan, former Ambassador of India to Armenia.
We are pleased to see that our collaborations continue to bear fruits and that the pupils are taking Interest in knowing and discussing more on Mahatma Gandhi's life.
